1. I liked “Heleno" so much more than I’d expected to like a biopic about a Brazilian soccer star. Rodrigo Santoro put a lot of work into this role and it’s shot beautifully in black and white. I saw a screening of it a few weeks back at MOMA, followed by a Q&A with the director, José Henrique Fonseca, which at least cleared up my questions about what Rodrigo Santoro’s Heleno de Freitas was huffing throughout the film (ether).

    Also, MOMA screenings where the one person who speaks up during the opening and closing credits getting uniformly hushed by the entire theater serve as a sharp contrast to seeing “The Dark Knight Rises" on its opening weekend, when the entire theater practically screamed and creamed itself during the opening of the 007 trailer, an entirely unrelated franchise.
